Cast Partridge Pea Seed Pod Earrings / Sterling

$ 220.00

These light-catching earrings are cast from a partridge pea seed pod collected by Wild Seed Project, a Maine-based nonprofit dedicated to native plant advocacy.

Chamaecrista fasciculata: partridge pea is an annual wildflower native to the Eastern United States. It is a legume and fixes nitrogen in the soil wherever it grows. Its yellow blooms are loved by pollinators, and birds feed on the seed pods later in the season.

Partridge pea is the host plant to Orange Sulphur, Sleepy Orange, and Little Yellow butterflies. The butterflies lay their eggs on partridge pea, and it becomes the food the caterpillars rely on.
